Fitness - Different Exercise Routines For Men And Women

We live quite rightly in an age of equality where we are slowly but surely tearing down many of the traditional barriers that exist between men and women. Despite this though, there are still some areas where differences do, and will continue to, exist and exercise is one such area.

Although a few women can achieve the upper body strength of some of even the fittest men, the vast majority of men have a natural physical advantage in this area. This advantage is reinforced by male aesthetic values and many men will favor their upper body when it comes to putting together an exercise routine.

women, by contrast, will focus their attention more on exercises aimed at the legs and buttocks, possibly in part out of a desire to look more attractive. In this case women again have an advantage as a woman's pelvis is tilted at a slightly different angle from that of a man. This means, for example, that women can gain greater benefit from exercises such as squats by tilting their feet outward with their legs further apart, and do not need to squat as low.

Although women have additional layers of muscle in the stomach, on average, most women have less muscle mass than men and a greater percentage of body fat. This means that a well designed female exercise routine will focus less on bulking up and more on toning and achieving flexibility.

Men are also somewhat less flexible than women as a result of natural differences in their joints and also a difference in attitude. This difference in attitude often results in men tending to skimp on their warm-up routines, including essential stretching exercises.

Of course to some extent these differences are very much a matter of degree and some convergence is possible and both men and women can benefit by adapting some aspects of the routines of the opposite sex.

women are more often open to trying out something new or different, such as yoga or pilates, which focus on an awareness of different parts of the body in order to maximize flexibility and raise overall fitness. Such practices focus very little on achieving strength, although increased strength often results a good yoga or pilates routine.

For example, a number of yoga routines focus on balance and balance is at its greatest when all the body's muscles are supporting the joints and skeleton correctly and dynamically. This is both the cause and consequence of improved strength in the muscles that help achieve that balance.

pilates, especially, is a coordinated system aimed at achieving better strength and posture and breathing by using one to assist the other. Once again, it concentrates more on controlling muscle groups rather than building them up.

While men will undoubtedly continue to focus their attention on upper body strength and women to concentrating on flexibility and toning in their legs, both can undoubtedly benefit from taking a look over the fence and seeing how the other half lives.

Weatherproofing Roof Insulation

Many residential and commercial property owners and leading architects, now a days trust in weatherproofing roof insulations, since weatherproofing roof insulations does safe electricity and saves money on electricity bills, deeming themselves as energy efficient roofs.

Weatherproofing roof insulations, causes the atmosphere below the ceiling to be pleasantly cooler than the outside temperature in the summer time and pleasantly warmer in the winter season. Thus this reduces the houses frequency of using air condition and the frequency of using the heater system, saving electricity. Thus weatherproofing roof insulation provides energy saving benefits both to individuals and businesses alike. One such example is the low-slope roof market is the standing seam roof, which is installed under the metal roofing panels. You can start at the top, to reduce and hold your overhead costs. Installing a water-tight roof again has its own advantages, during winter storms and heavy rains, saving your from the so called phenomenon of leaky roofs or energy wasting roofs. Life cycle costing of your business is down 50%, when you install weatherproof roof insulations, by saving maintenance on ACs and Heaters and energy costs.

Weatherproofed roof insulations, can increase the roof life up to 40 years with extremely little maintenance work, but do keep on routinely inspecting the roofs. Weatherproof roof insulations gives you a chance to plan ahead, since the savings originating from the roof can pay for the building itself, during the life cycle of the building. Installation and weatherproofing roof insulations, involve little or no effort, you can do it yourself or hire some body to do it for you, it does not take much time. Retrofitting after the roof has disintegrated or damaged costs more and will affect the life cycle of your building and the durability of the roof. Hence it is a good idea, while installing the roof insulation, you should weather proof it.

Metabolism and Weight Loss - How to Burn Calories

According to science, weight of a person is mainly determined according to a ratio between numbers of calories consumed against number of calories burnt. However, weight of a person is never dependent on the metabolic rate of the person. Hence, it is wrong to believe that slim person have a higher rate of metabolism and overweight people have a lower rate of metabolism.

Metabolism can be described as a biochemical process where food is converted into energy. The calories consumed in the form of proteins, carbohydrates and fats are oxidized to release the energy required for the proper functioning of the body. The total energy expenditure of an individual can be explained as the number of calories burnt on one single day. Two-thirds of the total energy released is primarily utilized for basic needs such as breathing, blood circulation, brain functioning, maintaining hormone levels, cell growth and repair. However, another 10 percent of the energy is required for processes such as digestion, absorption, transportation and excretion of foods. Remaining part of the energy is spent for doing physical activities.

Explanation for being over weight could be energy imbalance, where the calorie intake exceeds the calories that body burns. A weight-loss program primarily involves restoring this energy balance through reduction in the calorie intake. Another way to restore the balance is to burn more calories.

Calories can be burnt in excess by increasing daily exercises and activities that aid in muscle building. Some of these exercises include regular walking for 30 minutes, aerobic exercises and weight training exercises. Slight changes in the lifestyle can also help significantly in burning more calories. These changes could be increased usage of staircase while avoiding elevators, gardening, washing car and participating in routine household activities.

England? You Must Be Kidding

In the days that followed Englands qualification for germany 2006, Sven Goran- Eriksson, Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen all said that they think england can win the world cup. But, in my humble opinion yet again, although they have some highly talented and gifted players, I doubt they have a good enough team to do it. Look back at england s overall performances throughout the 2006 world Cup qualifying campaign and you can see just what the team lacks, and why england will not win the world Cup next year. A great team is built not just with technical ability (of which england have absolutely loads), fame and fortune but also passion, teamwork, commitment, tactics and personality, (all of which england desperately lacks).

You look back at the england cricket teams success in the summer and you see all of those factors mentioned above. I may not be the most ardent follower of the sport but I think Im right in saying england actually only have a couple of player in the world rankings for batting and bowling, however as a team they are formidable. Michael Vaughans intelligence, calm head and Quiet but effective leadership and Andrew Flintoffs inspiration are the keys. But you can look around at the raw passion of Simon Jones, flamboyance of Kevin Pietersen, honest workmanship of Ashley Giles and you see the way the team is built.

They played with so much strength oh character. Every time they fell behind or lost wickets certain players would step up for their team and do something special, which could be anyone at different times. Look through the england football team and youll find arrogant, self-interested individuals with all the personality of a wet fish almost to a man. These guys dont look like theyre playing for england for love or passion of the game or their country. They seem to be playing for their profile as footballers, and the next big sponsorship deal. Passion isnt about spitting anger and diving in for tackles the way Rooney and david Beckham respectively tend to do. It isnt about getting sent off as it lets your team mates and your country down.

No, passion is about running so hard, you are playing as both full-back and wide midfielder the way Cafu and Roberto Carlos did when their star player was sent off in 2002 against england. I can picture it if Svens lot were to win the world Cup. I see beckham striking a pose with the trophy, sticking out his chest and allowing a lock of his hair to fall across his face, Frank Lampard and John Terry grinning behind him, Ashley Cole and Rio Ferdinand in the background on their mobiles to their agents demanding pay-rises com-mensurate with winning the tournament. To cut a long story short, if england wins the 2006 world cup, Ill run semi-nude around the Merdeka square on the next rainy day after the tournament, if, the authorities allow it of course.
